GREENWICH VILLAGE PENINSULA ENVIRONMENTAL STRATEGIES SITE
The Greenwich Peninsula located in the northern point of the London Borough of Greenwich, is currently undergoing major regeneration under the guidance and stewardship of English Partnerships who have been commissioned to undertake these challenges. This site attempts to evaluate some of the environmental externalities that has affected the site before work started on development. An audit was carried out by a team from University College, London concentrating on an analysis of varying environmental concerns including Urban Ecology, Waste and Energy. Further link pages concentrate more intensively on one key environmental aspect that has affected the whole peninsula site, this being the problem of contaminated land and excessive quantities of waste left in and around the area. Therefore, we have attempted to look more closely as these negativities and attempt to recommend strategies to combat them in the future. Our main focus points are;

The most problematic environmental problem highlighted by residents in the area was the problem of traffic, although the extent of the problem varied depending on the nature of the traffic congestion, it has been heavily polluted during the construction of the new Millennium Village due to the unusually large number of heavy duty vehicles passing through at this time.
